Healthcare systems
are a constantly changing configuration of services designed to
improve the health status of their participants. Sometimes patients
and their families have needs that cannot readily be addressed by
staff. There may be a complex situation that has led to an incompatibility
between staff and the patient/family system. Sometimes the stress
may be due to cultural differences or misunderstandings, and a consultant
can help resolve the situation.
In other situations,
significant structural changes may be required in the delivery system.
Mergers, restructuring and reorganizations can produce enormously
stressed departments. A healthcare consultant who works with both
managers and their teams to integrate new systems will produce a
more effective working team.

"We were
trying to integrate several departments into our case management
department, and there was disagreement about how to accomplish this
goal effectively. Because their personnel have hospital-based experience,
Healthcare Liaison was able to assist us in this transition and
implement a new design for our working team."

"We had
an Asian family whose father was in our rehab unit. He had had a
severe stroke, and there were many family members involved in his
care. Some of the family wanted him treated with a special diet
and fewer hours of therapy. We were having trouble helping them
understand that we could not significantly reduce the hours of therapy
and have him continue in rehab. Healthcare Liaison helped us create
a program that the family accepted." - Physiatrist,
In-Patient Rehab Unit
